Colors of the American Flag

I would imagine that even before the ink had dried on the Declaration of Independence, the sentences: “We are gonna have a flag?” We must have a flag! Britain has a flag! ” were echoed by members of the Continental Congress. But then a flag is important. It is a symbol for a group and their beliefs – a means of identification.

It has long been reported that in May 1776, Betsy Ross, the first version of the flag that we use today sewn. The American flag has gone, of course, been through several design transformations since then, as states, the nation and the stars were added to the design.
