American Flags Through History

There are fewer objects that spark such passionate emotions, such as the various American flags through history.

The very first flag was raised as a “Grand Union Flag”, 1 January 1776, by General Washington at his headquarters. Another early flag and see many patriots know and recognize (at many biker jackets), the rattlesnake and the motto “Do not Tread On Me”.

The symbol first appeared in the colonies in 1775, and it consisted of the American timber rattlesnake, coiled and ready to strike. According to American historians, the symbol on some drums as the first Marines, which was conducted first U.S. Navy escort painted on its first battles on board the vessel named “The Alfred.” The symbol, a frightening rattlesnake strike, ready with thirteen rattles, and advertisements with the slogan “Do not Tread On Me,” has become a powerful and patriotic symbol for the armed forces, but especially for the Navy and Marines.

Other American flags through history

represented: the settlers to defend Fort Moutrie in South Carolina in 1776 created the first flag and the struggle for American freedom. It was a blue flag with a crescent moon in the corner. Printed on the moon was the word “Liberty”.

supported: A flag that looks much like the Stars and Stripes, probably in 1826 on the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence created, was the red and white stripes, but a corner with two stars at the top, and an arc of stars over the number “76″.
