Flag returned to family after missing for years
An informal ceremony at the Veterans Administration Clinic Sonora closed the book Friday on the riddle of the flag of a monument took 15 years before selling in a local court. Vicki Stevens, 45, and Melba Stevens, 72, both of Tuolumne was received at the VA hospital Friday afternoon, the flag. It recalls the death of Walter J. Stevens, who was killed in combat in World War II in 1944.
